The Tale of two wolves: Which one will you feed?

Updated: Jun 10, 2024

The Cherokee Indian legend of the two wolves is a powerful story that illustrates the battle between good and evil within each of us. As the story goes, an old Cherokee is teaching his grandson about life. He tells the boy that there is a constant battle between two wolves inside us all.

One wolf represents evil - it is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.

The other wolf represents good - it is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith.

The grandson is curious and asks, "Which wolf will win?"

The old Cherokee simply replies, "The one you feed."

This story is a poignant reminder of the power of our thoughts and actions. It teaches us that we have the choice to nurture positive qualities within ourselves, or to succumb to negative emotions and behaviours. It's a lesson that is particularly relevant in today's world, where men often face immense pressure to conform to societal expectations of masculinity.

This is where organizations like 'MENtality Matters' come in. 'MENtality Matters' is a charity dedicated to helping men feed the good wolf inside them. Through transformative retreats, team building events, and an online community, 'MENtality Matters' provides a safe space for men to reconnect with their true essence, rediscover their strength, purpose, and brotherhood.

By fostering a supportive environment where men can share their struggles and triumphs, 'MENtality Matters' aims to empower men to prioritize their mental health and well-being. In doing so, they are helping men across the country feed the good wolf inside them and lead happier, more fulfilling lives.
